My vision
Leadership makes
room for possibility.
Clarity in analysis, responsibility in decisions and sensitivity in relationships. The way I approach life takes shape where these meet.
I believe in leadership that
brings rigour and imagination together.
The person behind the role
Where different
skills meet.
I am Pietro Zappaterreno. My career spans financial leadership, organisational development, project management and building businesses. For more than twenty years, I have supported people and organisations through decisions and transformation.
I founded Gruppo ECP and created the ECP Method. I am CEO and cofounder of Datasec, the cybersecurity company behind RansomWall. Across these different experiences, I keep working on the same question: how can clearer understanding lead to more considered action?
Economics gave me tools to understand choices and their consequences. Communication led me to explore how those choices become understood and shared. Working with people continues to put both to the test.
The responsibility of leadership
A direction
people can understand.
For me, leadership means making a direction clear. People working together need to understand what we are trying to achieve, what guides our choices and where their own responsibility lies.
Listening is part of decision-making. I value it when it brings missing information and objections that deserve time to the surface. It requires a willingness to test our own convictions and make room for disagreement.
After discussion comes the moment to choose. A leader must explain the decision and take responsibility for it, even when doubts and differing views remain.

We bring our whole selves

The method
It makes the steps between understanding, responsibility and action explicit.

Consistency
takes practice.
The CFO role calls for sustainable decisions. Entrepreneurship brings the responsibility of sustaining a direction over time. I want rigour and the capacity to learn to have a place in the same way of working.
The leadership I seek to practise makes decisions clear, recognises people’s contributions and keeps commitments open to scrutiny. It is a vision to translate into everyday behaviour, discuss with the people I work with and revisit when experience reveals something I had not yet considered.
